ENGWE LE20 Longtail Cargo E-Bike

The LE20 is a car replacement. A 100 Nm mid-drive motor, a 200 kg cargo rating and — with two batteries fitted — a quoted 350 km of range make it capable of the school run, the weekly shop and a weekend away without touching a tank of fuel.

Choosing your configuration

Three menus: colour, single or dual battery, and an upgrade package. The upgrades — 8A FlashCharge, Passenger, Cargo and Versatile Canvas — change what is fitted to the rear deck and how quickly it charges. Pick the one that matches how you will load it.

Single or dual battery

The single-battery build is quoted at 180 km and costs less. The dual-battery build roughly doubles that to 350 km and adds weight. For school runs and shopping, single is usually enough; for touring or cargo work, take the pair.

Puncture protection

20 × 3.0" puncture-proof spoke tyres. On a bike this heavy, a roadside puncture is genuinely difficult to fix — the protection is worth having.

Riding a longtail

It is long. Cornering, parking and lifting all take a little practice, and it will not fit in a standard bike rack. Plan storage before you order.

Road legality and safety

This model is supplied in EU pedelec specification: a 250 W nominal motor with assistance that cuts out at 25 km/h, as required by EN 15194. In Germany, the Netherlands and France that means no driving licence, registration, insurance or number plate is needed to ride it on public roads and cycle paths. Riders in the Netherlands should note the government has announced plans to require helmets for riders and passengers under 18 on all electric bicycles, with September 2027 given as the intended start date — check the current rules before buying for a younger rider.
