Two different things, often confused

It is worth being clear about this because the two are routinely conflated.

Your statutory legal guarantee comes from EU consumer law. It generally lasts two years from delivery, it applies whatever any warranty document says, and it is a right you hold against the seller. Nothing on this page reduces it.

The manufacturer warranty is an additional commercial promise from ENGWE. Its length, scope and process are set by ENGWE.

Batteries are treated differently

Almost every manufacturer covers batteries on shorter terms than the rest of the bike, and usually excludes gradual capacity loss, because that is normal ageing rather than a fault. Check the specific battery terms before assuming a range complaint is a warranty matter.

What warranties generally do not cover

These are the usual exclusions across the industry. Confirm the exact list against ENGWE's terms.

  • Wear items — tyres, brake pads, chains, cables, grips, bearings.
  • Accident, misuse, neglect and improper assembly.
  • Damage from water ingress caused by pressure washing or immersion.
  • Modification, including fitting non-approved parts or attempting to de-restrict the motor.
  • Commercial or rental use, unless specifically agreed.
  • Normal gradual reduction in battery capacity.

Extended warranty

We list a 1-year warranty extension. ENGWE's terms require it to be bought alongside the machine it covers, and each extension covers exactly one bike or scooter — a twin pack needs two. Read what it adds beyond your statutory rights before buying it.

Keeping your warranty intact

  • Have the bike assembled and first-serviced competently, and keep the receipts.
  • Use only the supplied charger.
  • Do not attempt to remove the speed limiter — beyond voiding the warranty, it takes the bike outside the legal definition of a bicycle.
  • Keep your proof of purchase.
