Compatible Models: EP-2 Pro

Overview

On a 30 kg bike, brakes are not a place to economise. Hydraulics need less hand force, modulate better on a steep descent and stay consistent in the wet — and because the system is sealed, they need adjusting far less often than cables.

Why riders choose the ENGWE Hydraulic Brake Upgrade

  • Less lever effort for more stopping power — noticeable on long descents and for smaller hands.
  • Smoother modulation, so you can brake hard without locking a wheel.
  • Sealed system — no cables to stretch, contaminate or seize.
  • Consistent in all weather.

Compatibility

ENGWE lists this upgrade for the EP-2 Pro, EP-2 Boost, Engine Pro and Engine X. Select your model from the option menu.

Have it fitted properly

Hydraulic brake installation involves routing, bleeding and bedding in the pads. This is the one upgrade on this page we would strongly recommend having done by a bike shop rather than attempting at home — the consequence of getting it wrong is not a rattle.

Who it suits

  • Owners of mechanical-braked EP-2 and Engine models
  • Hilly regions and wet climates
  • Heavier riders and anyone carrying loads

Frequently asked questions

Which bikes does this fit?

ENGWE lists the EP-2 Pro, EP-2 Boost, Engine Pro and Engine X. Choose your model from the option menu.

Can I fit these myself?

We would advise against it unless you have done hydraulic brake work before. Routing, bleeding and bedding in matter, and brakes are not a component to learn on. Have a bike shop fit them.

Is it a worthwhile upgrade?

On a heavy fat bike, yes — particularly if you ride hills, ride in the wet, or find the standard levers hard work.
