Overview

The Engine Pro 3.0 Boost is the top of ENGWE's folding fat-tyre range: the same magnesium step-through platform as the EP-2 3.0, but with a 720 Wh pack and 90 Nm of boost torque for riders who load the bike up and point it at hills.

Why riders choose the ENGWE Engine Pro 3.0 Boost

  • 90 Nm of boost. The strongest boost figure in the folding range, which is what you want with luggage aboard or a 10% gradient ahead.
  • 720 Wh, integrated. 21700 cells with BMS protection, housed in the downtube and removable for indoor charging.
  • Dual-piston hydraulic brakes. Necessary rather than luxurious on a 34.7 kg bike with a 150 kg payload rating.
  • Step-through magnesium frame. Easy to mount, stiff under load, and it folds.
  • EN 15194, TÜV certified. A 250 W EU drivetrain that stays inside pedelec law.

ENGWE Engine Pro 3.0 Boost in detail

Where the extra weight goes

At 34.7 kg the Engine Pro 3.0 is the heaviest folder here, and the extra mass is battery and frame. That buys range and stability; it costs you portability. Treat the fold as "fits in a car" rather than "carry it upstairs".

Suspension

A 50 mm travel fork takes the edge off, and the 20 × 4.0" tyres do the rest. It is a comfort setup, not a mountain bike one.

Choosing between the Engine Pro 3.0 and the EP-2 3.0

Same frame concept, same brakes, same certification. The Engine Pro adds 72 Wh of battery and 15 Nm of boost for about €400. Worth it if you are heavier, ride hillier routes, or want the longest range in the folding line-up.

Who it suits

  • Riders who want maximum range and torque from a folding fat bike
  • Hilly regions and loaded riding
  • Anyone at the upper end of the payload range

Road legality and safety

This model is supplied in EU pedelec specification: a 250 W nominal motor with assistance that cuts out at 25 km/h, as required by EN 15194. In Germany, the Netherlands and France that means no driving licence, registration, insurance or number plate is needed to ride it on public roads and cycle paths. Riders in the Netherlands should note the government has announced plans to require helmets for riders and passengers under 18 on all electric bicycles, with September 2027 given as the intended start date — check the current rules before buying for a younger rider.

Frequently asked questions

How is this different from the EP-2 3.0 Boost?

Same magnesium step-through folding platform and the same hydraulic brakes. The Engine Pro 3.0 carries a 720 Wh battery instead of 648 Wh and offers 90 Nm of boost instead of 75 Nm, at roughly 2.4 kg more weight.

Is 90 Nm still legal in the EU?

Yes. Torque is not what the regulation limits — EN 15194 caps continuous rated power at 250 W and assistance at 25 km/h, both of which this bike respects.

Can I ride it in the rain?

Yes. Wiring is rated IPX7, display and lights IPX6, motor, controller and battery box IPX5. Avoid pressure washing and immersion.
